Is Morocco safe for a sports team trip?
Morocco hosts millions of visitors a year and is a common destination for school and sports groups. The US State Department rates it Level 2, "Exercise increased caution" (advisory issued 4 September 2026), the same level as many European countries. Teams travel safely with a planned itinerary, licensed guides, private transport and a coordinator who stays with the group.

What the US advisory says
The US State Department's advisory for Morocco is Level 2 out of 4, "Exercise increased caution", issued on 4 September 2026. It names terrorism as the main risk and lists practical points that matter for team travel:
- Stay alert at large public events, popular hotels, markets and transport hubs.
- Avoid demonstrations.
- Roads through the Rif and Atlas mountains are steep and narrow, and rural flash flooding is common from November to March.
- Avoid stadiums and the areas around them on professional match days.
- Outside the main tourist areas, medical help can take longer to arrive.
UK travellers should read the FCDO's Morocco travel advice, which is updated regularly.
How we run a team trip safely
- One coordinator, all trip: a bilingual CampNRuns coordinator travels with the group from arrival to departure.
- Private transport only: licensed coaches and experienced drivers. Mountain days are scheduled for daylight and moved if weather turns.
- Vetted hotels and venues: group hotels with secure access, and training venues we have used before.
- Licensed guides for medinas and cultural visits.
- Match days: if your team wants to watch a professional game, we decide case by case and follow the advisory's guidance on crowds.
- Written safety plan: emergency contacts, nearest hospitals and a communication plan, shared with staff and parents before departure.
Health
Drink bottled or filtered water, which we provide on every training day. Private clinics in Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat and Casablanca treat visitors. Make sure insurance covers sport participation and medical evacuation.
For parents
We share the full itinerary, hotel details, emergency numbers and the coordinator's contact before departure, and can join a parents' call to answer questions.

Yes, with the same sensible precautions as anywhere: a coordinator with the group, private transport, group hotels and modest dress in medinas and rural villages. We host women's teams regularly.
Can our team attend a professional football match?
Possibly. The US advisory recommends avoiding stadium areas on match days, so we assess each request and only plan it when we are confident it is appropriate for the group.
